Community Volunteering, by Ray Halowski

Shambhala vision is rooted in the principle that every human being has a fundamental nature of basic goodness. This nature can be developed in daily life so that it radiates out to family, friends, community and society.

This vision offers possibilities for a culture in which life’s challenges are met with kindness, generosity and courage. In action, Shambhala is both a spiritual path of study and meditation that helps us work with our minds, as well as a path of serving others and engaging with our world. These vital and timely teachings open the door to compassionate care for ourselves and others.

Community volunteerism is an important aspect of our practice. To date we have tried working with a couple of charities, but we are still looking for good ongoing volunteer opportunities for the Phoenix Shambhala community to participate in. We invite you to give us suggestions for a charity that we can work with. This should not be a monetary donation, but physically giving care and kindness to those in need. It should also be family-friendly and scheduled at reasonable hours (Saturday morning would be best). Please contact Ray at [email protected] with any suggestions you might have. Thank you in advance for your support.
