Community Service Opportunity: Easter Food Drive at Phoenix Rescue Mission

Please join us in supporting the Phoenix Rescue Mission’s Community Easter Event to benefit low-income children and families! On March 24th, the Mission is expecting to serve over 1,000 children and over 700 families. Food boxes and Easter baskets will be provided to their guests to take home and enjoy after the event. This week, we are collecting non-perishable food items that will be used to fill food boxes that will be delivered to the Mission on Tuesday, March 20. Please drop off your items at the Phoenix Shambhala Center no later than Sunday, March 18. If you would like to donate, but are unable to go to the Center during regular meditation hours, you may schedule a separate time by emailing [email protected].

Ideas for filling the food boxes:

  • 1 jar of peanut butter
  • 4 cans of fruit
  • 4 cans of vegetables
  • 2 cans of beans
  • 2 cans of tomatoes
  • 1 box, or bag of cereal
  • 2 packages of instant potatoes
  • 2 cans of tuna or chicken
  • 2 packages of dry gravy mix
  • 2 packages of pasta/rice/beans
  • 1 package of cake mix and can of frosting

The Phoenix Rescue Mission began in 1952 and has since become a place of hope, healing, and new beginnings for men, women, and children in our community struggling with homelessness, addiction and trauma.
