Community Service Opportunity: Hike for the Homeless

Join us on March 3rd for the 20th annual Hike for the Homeless, in support of St. Joseph the Worker. We will be hiking in the beautiful McDowell Mountain Regional Park in Fountain Hills. There are 2 options, a 1.5 mile or 4.5 mile option, followed by breakfast burritos.

The mission of St. Joseph the Worker (SJW) is to assist homeless, low-income and other disadvantaged individuals in their efforts to become self-sufficient through quality employment.

In Fiscal Year 2016-2017, SJW assisted 3,883 clients to get back to work, representing a 13% increase over Fiscal Year 2015-2016! Also, 3,034 or 85% of clients maintained their employment status for 3 months, and 2,542 or 75% maintained their employment status for 6 months.

Please register for the event and sign up under the team name Mindful Hike, then choose the McDowell Mountain location.

We intend to meet at the site; however, if anyone would like to arrange for transportation from the Phoenix Shambhala Meditation Center, you can reach out to Teresa Gregersen at [email protected] prior to the day of hike.
