Join us for a deep dive into the Lojong mind training slogans in this weekend class.

Lojong is literally translated as Mind Training. In Mahayana Buddhism the mind is trained to go beyond ordinary self-centered, anxious preoccupation and gradually learns to place others as the focus of interest and concern. This is the path of the Bodhisattva, those who seek enlightenment for the sake of all other beings. This path begins with the development of love and compassion for self and others and matures into the full resolution to live a life of benefit to all beings for lifetimes to come.

We will draw from ancient teachings brought to Tibet in the 11th century by Atisha. Through an unbroken lineage of practice they have been condensed into “heart essence” or “pith instructions” in the form of 59 slogans contained in The Seven Points of Mind Training. We will study these slogans and the commentaries of Jamgon Kongtrul, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and Pema Chodron with an emphasis on meeting the ordinary situations of life, employing intelligence and compassion even under difficult circumstances.
